Reflexology

Duties and Responsibilities: Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative form of treatment involving the application of pressure to different parts of the body in order to improve the general health. Reflexologists are professionals skilled in this natural art of healing. They treat patients by massaging their feet, hands, and ears to relieve them of stress, and improve circulation to the related body areas. The entire treatment is based on the principle that certain reflex zones in the body correspond to different body parts.

Salary: $38,000

Education: Individuals interested in becoming reflexologists need to complete a postsecondary program and meet a minimum number of training hours. To obtain employment, they likely need to complete a massage therapy program, although separate certificate programs in reflexology are also available. Most states regulate massage therapy and require massage therapists to obtain a state license. The following table outlines the common requirements to become a reflexologist.
