Chinese (oriental) Medicine

Duties and Responsibilities: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) originated in ancient China and has evolved over thousands of years. TCM practitioners use herbal medicines and various mind and body practices, such as Acupuncture and tai chi, to treat or prevent health problems. In the United States, people use TCM as a complementary health approach.  

Salary: $61,000 a year


Education: To become an Oriental medicine practitioner, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in biology, and then you’re going to fill out state requirements for practicing oriental medicine. Most states want students to work as intern or apprentice for a specific amount of hours, then take an examination to become a certified through the National Certification Commission for acupuncture and Oriental medicine.
